Moshassuck Quicktime VR (drag from side to side)
The Moshassuck gets its water from all points within the darker green shaded area of
the map. The watershed contains many neighborhoods within like this one. As you first load this page, you see a gentle climb in the street. The top of that rise is the ridge that defines the border between the Moshassuck and Woonasquatucket watersheds. All rainwater that falls on that pavement rushes towards you, by you and on to the streams that empty into the Moshassuck.
The water that falls down the other side of the ridge won't meet up again with its Moshassuck neighbor for miles in downtown Providence (click on number 1 on the map to see where those two rivers meet to become the Providence River). As you load the various images of the Moshassuck, drag the images from side to side to see all around you — all our panoramic pictures use Quicktime VR to give you a 360 degree view. Think about what rainwater carries from the streets as you view the various panoramas of our
"Mighty Mo".
