Above: Members of the American Mathematical Society, neighbors of the Moshassuck, join the 2007 clean up! Below: Greg, and the Math Society notice that hard work does add up to a cleaner river.
Friends of the Moshassuck has participated in URI's May to October Watershed Watch for two years. All samples and measurements were taken at our Collyer field restoration site. In 2005 the fecal coliform Units per 100ml on the Moshassuck were an average of 2,206!! The DEM standards permit only 200 fecal coliform units per 100ml in moving water bodies like the Moshassuck. This number was the second worst in the state among monitored rivers! To see the complete URI Watershed water quality reports for 2005/6/7 go to: www.uri.edu/ce/wq/ww .
